Our story · Miami since 2014

A camp is a few hundred people who keep showing up.

Cymatica started in Miami and has been going to Love Burn since 2014. Every February a few hundred of us put up a sound system, a kitchen and a shade structure in a park, spend five days there, and take it all down again without leaving a trace.

DJs playing from the window of Cymatica's silver bus at night, disco balls strung from the trees above it.
The bus, mid-set. The sets happen on the bus, not on the sand.

A little dust. A lot of people.

Radical inclusion, gifting, self-reliance, and leaving no trace. Not because they are on a poster — because a camp that ignores them stops being one.

The rest of the year

The other eleven months are the part nobody photographs.

Build weekends where eight people are needed and four turn up. Dinners in someone’s backyard. The welder who knows a guy with a truck. Campmates in Denver, Mexico City, Lisbon and New York who see each other twice a year and would still drive four hours for one another.

Campmates crowded around a fire pit at night in coats and fur, toasting marshmallows.
The fire pit, which is where most of the actual talking happens.

Keep the signal going

Somebody vouches for somebody.

It has always worked that way and we have not found a better filter. If a campmate sent you here, they can tell you the rest.

That is what this site is for. Not a social network — the chat stays on WhatsApp, where it has always been. This is the part that a group chat is bad at: knowing who is who, what they can do, when the next thing is, and where you stand for the season.
